End of the month. The bill for messages and calls into Mexico came in higher than last month’s, on the same volume. Nobody in your company knows why. Part of that traffic was paid to a carrier that no longer serves those numbers, and part went out to numbers with nobody on the other end.
The number no longer tells you who owns it
In Mexico, more than 80 million numbers have switched carriers without changing the number. That is a user’s right and good news for them. For anyone sending messages or placing calls it is a problem: the number a line was born with no longer tells you who serves it today.
When traffic is routed on that stale clue, three things happen that cost money. Messages that take the wrong route and never arrive, yet are billed. Calls paid at the rate of a carrier that no longer serves that number. And messages to landlines or unassigned numbers, paid in full, reaching nobody and opening room for fraud.
The bill is only the visible part. The rest is in the customers who complained that the code never came.
What does DENEB do for my business?
DENEB answers a simple question: who owns this number today? Before sending a message or placing a call, your system asks DENEB and gets the answer on the spot: which carrier the number belongs to, whether it was ported, whether it is fixed or mobile, and how current the data is. It is queried by API from your own system, one number at a time or for your whole database.
The data comes from Mexico’s official portability source and is updated every day: more than 80 million ported numbers and 65 million numbering blocks. DENEB is already in production with customers and is available to any company sending traffic into Mexico.
What does the company gain?
It shows up on four lines of the P&L.
- Messages that arrive. The access code, the alert or the confirmation goes out on the route of the carrier that actually serves the number.
- Calls billed at the right rate. You pay the carrier that serves the line, not the one that had it three years ago.
- Less traffic with no destination. If the number is a landline, it cannot receive your message; if it is unassigned, nobody is on the other end. You know before paying for it. Less wasted spend and less room for fraud.
- Decisions on official data, before you spend. You do not assume. You ask, and the answer comes with a date.
Who is it for?
For operators and voice carriers that need to bill and route every call to the right carrier. For aggregators and messaging platforms that want to stop paying for messages that never arrive. And for companies that validate numbers before acting: contact centers, anti-fraud and analytics teams.
What DENEB does not do
We prefer to say it up front: DENEB never guesses. If a number is not assigned in Mexico, or belongs to a country we do not yet cover, it says so plainly instead of giving an approximation. A data service is worth what its worst answer is worth.
Why Gazeti
DENEB is run by a licensed carrier with its own network in Mexico, not a data reseller: the same company that carries messages and calls into Mexico every day and lives with the consequences of a misrouted number. It covers Mexico today and is ready to add other countries.
